Re: Memories of the old Chandel club My dad used to take our family up there on special occasions. I really don't recall the food so much as the revolving outer ring along with the view, which was a treat for this youngster.
My earliest memories of Oklahoma City go back to when Quail Springs Mall first opened in 1980. My mom bought me the General Lee matchbox car from Kay Bee Toys. To a toddler, Quail Springs was freakin huge! Today, I can traverse the mall in less than five minutes.
Non-family memories involve bus rides down here for school activities, including visiting the state capital and one or more visits to the zoo. Oddly, my strongest memory of those trips is the construction on I-35.
Re: OKC restaurant memories I remember so many of these places mentioned. Alamo Plaza on S. Robinson had great fried chicken. Kip's Big Boy on North May and a few other locations (great to color in their comic books). Howard Johnson's Best fried clams on the planet. Holloway's Charcoal Burgers on NW 23rd and Grand (now I-44)
